Your website still shows last year's prices. How to get it fixed today
A customer says "your website says $80". It's $95 now, and you're either honouring the old price or having an awkward conversation. Every day the page stays wrong, it happens again.
There are three ways to fix it. Start at the top and stop at the first one that works.
1. Fix it yourself
If your site was built on Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy or WordPress, you can usually change a price or a phone number in a few minutes, if you can sign in.
- Find the page where the price is wrong. Use your phone, the way a customer would.
- Sign in to the website builder with the email you used to sign up. If you can't remember it, try your business email, then "forgot password".
- Click the text, change it, press publish. Then reload the page on your phone to check it.
Check every page that mentions the price. Prices hide on the home page, a services page, a PDF menu and a Facebook post.
2. Ask the person who built it
If you can't sign in, or the site was built by someone who set it up and handed you nothing, ask them. Send one line: "Please change [the price] to [the new price] on [the page]." Don't send a paragraph. Ask them for the login too, while you have them.
If a week goes by with no reply, this route isn't working. Move on.
3. Have it done for you
Text me. I rebuild Vernon business websites, and after the free first rebuild, changes are part of the $99 a month. Text me what's wrong and I'll have it fixed within 24 hours. You don't need a login, a ticket or a form.
Make it not happen again
The reason a price goes stale is rarely laziness. Changing the website is one more job at the bottom of a list, behind the actual work. The fix is to make the job smaller: one place to send the change, and a person who does it that day.
